Mindwaves Connectors

Join Program

The Mindwaves Connectors program is here to support you! The Connectors offer peer-to-peer support to enhance student mental health and wellbeing at CQUniversity. They are fellow students who are trained to offer first response support and, if needed, guide you to the right support services and resources.

This program is all about connecting with one another through shared experiences, providing support, and encouraging each other to seek help and grow. It’s a great way to be a part of a supportive and connected community. You can meet with a Connector through an online wellbeing chat, via zoom or even on Campus (if a Connector is available near you).

Supported by the Wellbeing Directorate, the program also promotes Mindwaves 2.0, CQUniversity’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Plan. The vision of this plan is to actively support the mental health and social and emotional wellbeing of the University’s students and staff, while also engaging with the broader community to advocate and promote an inclusive, resilient and supportive society.

If you’re looking for someone to talk to or need some guidance, the Mindwaves Connectors are here for you!

Why should you connect?

Connectors are here to offer a listening ear, provide emotional support, and guide you to the right resources or additional supports if needed.

They create a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space where you can share any concerns or simply have a chat.

Becoming a Connector

In October each year, the Wellbeing Service will advertise for Connectors for the following year. This will be sent out by email to all CQUniversity students.

Volunteering as a Mindwaves Connector will give you a unique opportunity to make a difference to the mental health and wellbeing of your peers.

"Connection is why we're here, it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives" - Brene Brown
